Monspend Support

We usually reply within one business day (Mon–Fri, Europe/Istanbul).

Monspend is localized in English, Deutsch, Español, Türkçe — please write in whichever is easiest for you.

When you email us, please include: your device model, OS version, the Monspend app version (Settings → About), and — for Pro issues — your RevenueCat user ID (Settings → Subscription → Debug). Screenshots or a short screen recording help a lot.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is my financial data stored?

On your device, in an encrypted SQLite database (we use Drift under the hood). Monsware does not run servers that store your transactions, budgets, credit-card records, or installment plans. We do not connect to banks. See the Privacy Policy for the full breakdown. A future release will offer optional cloud sync — it will be off by default and explicitly opt-in.

Does Monspend connect to my bank account?

No. Monspend is an expense and budget tracker you fill in yourself. We do not request, receive, or store bank credentials, full card numbers, CVV, or bank transactions. "Credit cards" in Monspend are nicknames and statement-date reminders — not live bank accounts.

Which platforms, regions, and languages are supported?

Monspend is available on iOS and Android, worldwide through the App Store and Google Play. The UI is localized in English, Deutsch (German), Español (Spanish), and Türkçe (Turkish). Currency and date formats follow your device's region. If you'd like to see another locale added, email [email protected].

Can I use Monspend as a freelancer or small-business owner?

Yes — it's one of the things Monspend is designed for. Choose your user type during onboarding (Individual, Freelancer, or Small Business), or change it later in Settings. Freelancer and Business modes expose extra fields:

These are organizational tools — not a substitute for accounting software or an accountant.

How do I track credit-card installments (monthly payment plans)?

Use the Installments section. Add the product, total amount, number of installments, monthly amount, start date, and (optionally) which card. Monspend tracks remaining installments, total monthly burden across all active plans, and progress, and shows upcoming payments on the dashboard.

How do I back up or export my data?

Open Settings → Data → Export. Monspend Pro exports to CSV and Excel (.xlsx); the free tier exports to CSV. PDF monthly reports are a Pro feature. If you're moving to a new device, use your platform's standard device-transfer tool (iOS Quick Start or Android backup-and-restore) until our opt-in cloud sync ships. Because data is on-device, uninstalling the app will delete your records — export first.

I lost my data after reinstalling. Can you recover it?

Unfortunately, no. Because your data lives on your device and never reaches our servers, we have no copy to restore. This is the trade-off of local-first privacy. Always export a backup before uninstalling, switching devices, or doing a factory reset.

How do I cancel Monspend Pro?

Subscriptions are managed by the App Store or Google Play, not by Monsware.

Cancelling stops auto-renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the paid period. We cannot cancel on your behalf.

I was charged but Pro features aren't unlocking.

First, try Restore Purchases in Settings → Subscription. That usually fixes it within seconds. If not, email [email protected] with:

For refunds of store-processed payments, contact Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google (Google Play refund request) — they process the money.

How does "Ask Monspend" AI work?

Ask Monspend is available on every tier and is designed queries-first: you ask a natural-language question about your own data and the reply includes a tappable drill-down to the relevant list/detail screen. When you ask a question, the app builds a small anonymized summary (current-month category totals, three-month history per category per currency, active subscriptions with renewal dates, dormant-subscription names, your user type and locale, plus the last few turns of the conversation) and sends it to Gemini 2.5 Flash via Firebase AI Logic, gated by Firebase App Check (Play Integrity on Android, App Attest on iOS). No API key ever ships in the client.

Individual transactions, notes, and counter-party names are never sent. The reply appears in the app; Google does not use the prompt to train Gemini, and retention is bounded by the Firebase AI Logic terms.

Quota:

Output is informational — not professional financial, tax, or legal advice.

How does Receipt OCR work?

Open the Quick-Add sheet and tap the Camera or Gallery button at the top. Monspend sends the selected image in a single stateless call to Gemini 2.5 Flash via Firebase AI Logic, which returns structured fields: merchant, amount, currency, date, category, confidence, and notes. The amount, category chip, and currency override are pre-filled on the numpad. Nothing auto-saves — you still tap Save (or Discard).

Low-confidence scans (blurry image, missing amount) fall through to a blank manual Add form with a warning toast. The image is never retained by Monspend — we don't have servers — and Firebase AI Logic processes + discards the image per Google's terms.

Receipt OCR counts as one AI-assisted insert against your daily quota. The prompt is locale-aware, so it correctly handles Turkish fiş, German Kassenbon, and European/US date formats.

Can I log an expense with Siri or Google Assistant?

Yes. Monspend registers App Intents on iOS (Siri Shortcuts) and a shortcuts.xml bundle on Android (Google Assistant). Say "Hey Siri, log a $14 coffee" or "Hey Google, add a $28 lunch to Monspend" and the expense is captured without opening the app.

Raw audio is processed by the OS vendor (Apple / Google) and never reaches Monspend or Gemini. We only receive the transcribed parameters as structured intent fields. The first time you use it, iOS/Android will ask you to confirm permission.

How does the subscription tracker catch forgotten charges?

Monspend's Subscription Manager is a dedicated feature, not a bolt-on — and one of the main reasons the app exists. It ships with 32+ one-tap presets across markets (global: Netflix, Spotify, iCloud+, ChatGPT, Copilot, Notion; US: HBO Max, Hulu, Apple TV+, NYT; DE: Sky Deutschland, DAZN, MagentaTV; TR: BluTV, Exxen, TOD; ES: Movistar Plus+, Filmin).

Each subscription has a billing cycle (monthly/weekly/quarterly/yearly — all converted to a monthly burn rate for the dashboard), a renewal countdown (red ≤1 day, orange ≤3 days), optional card linkage, pause-without-losing-history, and its own currency. Trial subscriptions auto-create a reminder before silent conversion — flipping from free trial to paid should never be a surprise.

The dormant-subscription detector is a local-only computation that flags subs whose linked card has seen no charges in 60+ days. "Ask Monspend" can cite the list by name when you ask "find unused subscriptions."

Do home-screen widgets actually work?

Yes. Home-screen widgets are a Pro feature. On iOS 17+ the widget is native SwiftUI; on Android it's RemoteViews. They surface your today's balance, end-of-month projection, next upcoming installment, and the next subscription renewal — at a glance, without opening the app.

Which currencies are supported?

18 currencies ship in v1 with live FX rates: TRY, EUR, USD, GBP, JPY, CHF, SAR, AED, CNY, RUB, CAD, AUD plus LatAm (MXN, ARS, COP, CLP, PEN, BRL). Every transaction carries its own currency code. The input field is locale-aware — 25.50 in USD gives you 25.5, and 25,50 in TRY also gives you 25.5. FX rates are fetched from open.er-api.com with a 24-hour cache; Pro users can refresh manually as often as they want, free users get 1 manual refresh/day.

Which languages are supported?

Five in v1: English, Deutsch, Español (Spain), Español (LatAm), Türkçe. The Spanish bundle splits into two — es for Spain (Castilian register: "pagos a plazos", EU/travel framing) and es-419 for Latin America ("meses sin intereses", FX-hedge framing). Additional locales are planned.

How do I request deletion of my data under GDPR / CCPA / KVKK?

Send a request from the email address associated with your inquiry to [email protected]. Because your financial data is local, most of it is already under your control — delete it in-app or uninstall. For the limited data we or our sub-processors do hold (analytics opt-in, support emails, subscription receipts), we will verify your identity and respond within 30 days, or sooner where your local law requires.

How do I switch between Individual, Freelancer, and Small Business modes?

Open Settings → Account → User Type. Switching modes changes labels (e.g. "Salary" becomes "Project income"), dashboards, and which optional fields appear on forms. Your existing data is preserved — it is not deleted when you change modes.

How do I suggest a feature?

We love hearing this. Send suggestions to [email protected] — please include what problem it would solve for you, not just the feature itself.
